Rozgar Scheme: Empowering the Memon Community Through Sustainable Livelihoods

Launched in May 2011 by the World Memon Organisation (WMO) Pakistan Chapter, the Rozgar Scheme (“Employment Scheme”) has been transforming lives through its innovative poverty-alleviation initiative. This flagship program provides income-generating assets – specifically auto rickshaws for men and sewing machines for women – to economically vulnerable Memon families across Pakistan.

Impact & Achievements:

  • 1,000+ Livelihoods Created: To date, the scheme has distributed hundreds of auto rickshaws and thousands of sewing machines
  • Multi-Generational Change: Recipients report 300-400% income increases, enabling:
    ✓ Children’s education (reducing child labor)
    ✓ Improved family nutrition & healthcare access
    ✓ Debt reduction & home upgrades
  • Gender Empowerment: 68% of sewing machine recipients are women, fostering financial independence
